Not far from Innsbruck, capital of Tyrol, is the small town of Wattens. It is here, where in 1895 Daniel Swarovski opened a glass cutting factory.
100 years later, the now famous manufacturer of everything Crystal, built a museum for some of their creations. Built underground, you walk through different chambers of a Cirque de Soleil style wonder world of Crystal.
Artists from around the world collaborated with Swarovski to create this impressive theater.
Towards the exit, a giant gift shop offers up pretty much anything you ever wanted from that company.
From beads to jewellery, from gimmicky to Disney, it's all there. And it is busy. Very busy.
Marketing always was big part of their company philosophy.
If you are headed to Munich or Salzburg, or Florence, Wattens is only a couple of hours away and well worth the side trip.

On one of the TV shows I work on, the wardrobe department uses a lot of their crystals. The makeup department not as much, but we sure love all that bling.
no doubt, everybody seems to love their crystals.
